KTH ELEPHANT OXIDE PAINT is single component, low build solvent based general purpose oxide primer. It is an economical oxide primer for general industrial steel structure work which required fast handling time, it also has good hiding power and good build to give easy painting task, good coverage and semi-gloss finishing to painted surfaces. A suitable top-coat should be painted over the primer as to protect it from UV deterioration and to enhance its protection property.



Applications

  • As a primer in a multi-coat coating system. Intended for inland, general industrial environment and most suitable for use on steel, GI and other metal surfaces, where general corrosion protection is required.


Composition

  • Pigment: Oxide pigment.
  • Binder: Air-dry natural resins
  • Solvent: Used hydrocarbon solvents


Physical Characteristics of the Paint

  • Density: 1.00 – 1.10.
  • Volume Solid: 40 ± 5%
  • Viscosity: 52 ± 5 KU at 30°C
  • Theoretical Coverage: 8 – 12 m2/liter
  • Color: Red, black, grey, green oxide


Coating Properties

  • Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 35 - 50 microns per coat
  • Recommended Wet Film Thickness: 85 - 125 microns per coat
  • Recommended Numbers of coat: One or two
  • Recommended coating system: Elephant Oxide Primer / 5953 HG
  • Drying Time: Touch Dry – 15 mins, Dry to handle – 1 hour
  • Recoating interval: At least 6 hours
  • Curing Time: 24 hours
